The Case XX Crossroads XR Barlow takes one of America's most recognizable traditional pocket knife patterns and rebuilds it with modern materials and precision construction. It retains the familiar Barlow size and slip-joint operation while bringing premium blade steel and contemporary construction to a pattern with generations of history.
The CA10875 stands out with its Blue Denim Micarta handle and CPM S35VN stainless steel Clip blade, giving the traditional Barlow a distinctly modern EDC personality. It's an interesting choice for someone who appreciates classic Case patterns but wants modern materials and performance rather than another conventional bone-handled folder.
Description
The CA10875 is built around Case's Crossroads XR Barlow platform and uses a single Clip point blade. At 3.38 inches closed, it retains the compact proportions that make the traditional Barlow comfortable for everyday pocket carry.
The major departure from a conventional Case Barlow is the blade steel. Case uses CPM S35VN stainless steel, a premium powder-metallurgy steel known for its combination of edge retention, toughness, corrosion resistance, and practical sharpenability. It gives the Crossroads XR considerably more modern blade performance than Case's traditional Tru-Sharp® stainless offerings.
Blue Denim Micarta brings another contemporary element to the design. Made using fabric layers bonded with resin, Micarta develops a distinctive woven appearance and provides a durable handle material well suited to an everyday working knife. The blue denim look also gives this version character without losing the straightforward appearance of the original Barlow pattern.
The Crossroads construction is intentionally different from Case's traditional pinned pocket knives. Its modern screwed-together design allows the knife to be disassembled for cleaning and maintenance while retaining the familiar nail-nick opening and slip-joint action of a traditional folder.
Collector Notes
The Crossroads Series represents an interesting direction for Case: rather than replacing its traditional patterns with modern folders, Case is modernizing the traditional patterns themselves. The XR Barlow keeps the recognizable proportions and operation of an old American favorite while introducing S35VN steel, modern handle materials, and serviceable construction.
The CA10875 Blue Denim Micarta version is a July 2026 Case release, making it a particularly interesting variation for collectors following the evolution of the Crossroads line.
